Welcome to the AfterThought Everything Sock Workshop taught by Alissa Barton and Mary Berry.
What is an AfterThought Everything Sock? We will crank a skein of your yarn into a long tube. You will learn how to insert heels, toes and add a cuff into into your sock tube.
Workshop Schedule:
Friday, June 6th
5pm-9pm – join us for light bites as we learn to crank our socks using the Circular Sock Machine. Mary Berry will walk you through the process as you learn to make your own sock tube.
***BONUS! Bring a 4x4 swatch knitted in a worsted weight yarn and a size 7 or 8 needle to practice picking up stitches using larger yarn before Saturday morning!***
Saturday, June 7th
10 am – 12 pm – Session One with Alissa Barton
12-1 pm – Lunch
1-3 pm – Session Two with Alissa Barton
3-6pm – Optional knit together practicing what we have learned
Please bring with you:
- One 100 gram skein of sock yarn
- One mini skein in complementary color for contrasting toe, heel, and cuff
- Needless: One or more sets of double-pointed needles size 0 or 1; two circular needles in size 0 or 1 (Alissa recommends a 16” length and a 24” length to help you tell them apart.); or one 40” circular needle in size 0 or 1. Note: if you are a slow knitter you may want to bring more than one set.

- Tapestry Needle
- Scissors
- Glasses if required to see well
Workshop fee: $70 – includes $10 for the sock tube creation
***Students who cannot attend Friday night can mail their sock yarn to Mary Berry, The Millhouse, 610 Elm Street, Suite 1000, McKinney Texas 75069, to be received prior to June 1, 2025.

Alissa Barton - Alissa's more than 30 years of teaching experience make the "Knitting Fairy" the go-to-learning person to learn all of the tips and tricks for everything from cast on to bind off... From Accessories to Sweaters. Nothing thrills Alissa more than finding a new technique or stitch. One of the original instructors for DFW Fiber Fest, Alissa is considered a "secret weapon" by many in the fiber community who know that they can rely on her to share her knowledge and skills across multiple crafts at a moment's notice. Her Knitting Fairy patterns have been published in a variety of magazines, and many are available on Ravelry. Alissa also hosts a virtual learning channel on Patreon. (Patreon.com/knittingfairy) Alissa has taught classes at guilds, workshops, retreats and stores all around the US since 1990. Mary Berry - Mary Berry has been involved in the fiber arts for over 45 years and has been teaching fiber arts classes locally and nationally since 2000. After learning to knit in her 20’s, she rapidly moved on to weaving, spinning, dyeing, and rug hooking/punch needle. She owned and was the resident teacher at her fiber arts store, Fancy Fibers, from 2012 through 2022. She continues to teach both private lessons and classes in weaving, spinning, dyeing, rug hooking, and rug punch. Visitors are welcome at her studio space located at The Millhouse in McKinney, Texas, by appointment.
